REFLECTION

Experience
Design Research Dissertation has been very helpful in my academic writing. Task 1 taught me to expand ideas by opening up my topic with more research methods, discussions, concepts, studies and literature written by other more experienced authors. Task 2 had me looking back to the publication assignments in Typography and Advanced Typography in order to create a fitting book design for my dissertation topic. Task 3 let me improve my writing in Task 1 and reminded me about the formatting and rules of academic writing. Overall, I am content with the final dissertation. Task 4 challenged me to adapt my dissertation to a much simpler article format which was a little challenging but manageable to complete. Admittedly, I had a hard time in this subject as I had to keep elaborating over and over on certain sections which made me tired after a while.

Observations
I have observed an improvement in writing academically and objective sentences. Although, I do think this still needs to be improved upon further later on in the future. I hope to find myself doing more research in academic works to improve my personal works and ideas.

Findings
This subject has been really beneficial to my idea development. The feedback and advice from my lecturer, Dr. Mike, have been helpful in my writing and research and taught me that there are always ways to expand upon a single idea. He had also suggested concepts which were new to me that helped in writing the dissertation. My friends and fellow peers have also been supportive as we check in on each other and make sure we are all on the same page. All in all, the subject was difficult and full of trial and error but I will not forget the lessons I have learned from it especially to always think outside the box for more ideas.
